Random Musing

Well... was busy... was hell busy... had a couple of things to write about BUT... I was busy...

So let’s start...

Saturday 21st Feb 2009

I came out of Jag's office at II Chundrighar Road around 13.30... Was walking towards my car when I had a tap on my shoulder... Thought it must be some beggar and just because I was in a good mood (not a regular feeling lately), I thought to spare some change... Turned around & there stood a guy around the age 25-30, must be a regular Doper or how we call it in desi term "Must" or something like that, I dont really know nor I'm bothered... He said "Mobile de do", before I could reply some shinny thing in his hand caught my eye... It was a gun which was hidden in his shawl... Within some milliseconds I thought about a 100 things (like flashback in movies) & decided it would be a safe call to hand the phone over rather than acting like identical twin brother of Tom Cruise... There goes "Mera Naya Nokia jo barey armaanoon se kuch din pehle lia tha"

He took the phone, didnt thank, didnt return the sim back... (Maa baap ne itna bhi nahi sakhaya)... Off he goes... It took me 3 minutes to realize what had just happened to me... Once realization hit... All I could do was to smile like a goof (-:

Went to Warid office from there, got the new sim issued and the biggest concern was about the numbers I lost in new sim... Came home to setup my status msg of facebook as per the "NEWS" and requesting everyone to msg me their numbers so I can rebuild my empire of phone book...

What really made me feel good then were a couple of friends offering me their spare phones to use until I get a new 1... I mean all the sorrow of loosing a dear phone vanished right there because if I have such caring people around me then who cares for a phone... "Phir le lein gey" :D

Some friends even told me how to backup my contacts... Some different ways... Though pretty lame... Now that phone is gone you're telling me how to take backup... Or if you're telling me I should do that for future safety then "Go to hell!!!" as if I'd be looking forward to loose another phone... lolz... But I guess it was their way of showing concern... So I love you all (-:

Monday 23rd February 2009

I had to go to Karachi City Court to get some property issues settled... I was told that the whole procedure would cost around Rs.60,000/- and then was offered that the same can be done in Rs.6,000/- if paid under the table... I mean "FUCK YOU!!!" is this still Quaid ka Pakistan?

Wednesday 25th February 2009

Before I write this bit... Let me say 1 thing for the records... "I am not with any political party, I hate them all equally"

Sharif Brothers disqualified for the elections, Punjab Assembly dissolved, People on the roads of Punjab... Lahore & Rawalpindi complete shut down...

Mr.Sharif gives a statement on TV "Aab awaam ghar mai ne bethay, ye waqat bahir nikalney ka hai"

Something similar which came to my mind... like a flashback in some movies, 27th December 2007, Death of Benazir Bhutto...? Whole country burning...

Mr.Zardari gives a statement on TV "Ye koi tareeqa nahi hai soog kerney ka, mulk mushkil door se guzar raha hai, Awam sabar ka damman haath se na choorein"

Shame on you Mr.Sharif!!!

Good Job Mr.Zardari!!!

Now some might say here that "oh he was only faking it" or "oh thats such a political statement"

I say... Be it, may be its all true BUT that was a positive message OR he turned out to be a better politician than Mr.Sharif

Billu Barber

Last night I managed to download Billu Barber... I really liked it... Yea I know some people would say "What? are you nuts? you liked Billu Barber? its just an attempt to show how great I am by Mr.Khan"

So very quickly & on a short note let me tell why... First of all just for the records, I totally agree with what I wrote above regarding Mr.Khan.

The topic is real... I wont write the whole story here since it'll ruin the fun for those who are still planning to watch it.

The movie is kind of an "in your face", "slap", "mirror" to all of us... We all are like the villagers in the movie... We all treat people like royal until we have our interest associated with them and once our thing is done... we dump & flush them out of our system...

So I'd recommend everyone to watch the movie & while you're watching it, think and ask yourself... how many times were you treated like Billu & how many times you used some Billu in your life?

Presidential Show From First Row

Today When I was driving home I was stopped near Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway by the cops. I thought it’s probably something related to the car being unregistered but turns out they had more to worry about. There was a visible panic seen among the cops running here & there, asking everyone to get a side. For a moment I thought probably India is bombing on the Expressway or something similar to that and that’s why they’re vacating the road but then I heard voices like…

“VIP movement!!!”, “Pechay Hatto”, “Side Pe Ho”, “Engine Band Kero Gari Ka”

I was like YAY!!! I’ve never seen this 1 before that too this close… I’ve heard about the people facing problems due to the similar movements in Musharraf regime, People waiting for hours n hours in traffic and patients dying in ambulances… Since I wasn’t in any kind of hurry so I thought to enjoy the show (too bad I had no pop corns on me)

Within minutes I could see a lot of cars in my rear view mirror & the road ahead of me being empty. Next were the street lights being shut down (WOW! Perfect cinema effects… I miss my pop corns)

Once the road was empty the very first Vigo of the convoy appeared at the speed of 100 km/hr approx. after 5 secs of that came the second Vigo with a loud speaker in it which announced about a biker coming from that side & the cops standing were ordered to do something about it. 10 secs later the real show begun (so the first 2 Vigos were trailer).

It started with 1 sports bike followed by another, and then came a set of 3 Mercedes Benz (W220) each of them being covered by 3 Land Cruisers. After that I seriously lost the count of vehicles following the convoy. If we talk about a ball park figure then there were at least 25 cars in the convoy which included Vigos, Hiluxes, Prados, Land Cruisers, Ambulances & some local Corollas as well.

Now I won’t bitch about how poor Pakistan is & the rulers should not waste so much of national resources & bla bla bla… That’s pretty old school now & we all are bored of reading & talking about that. Heck if I get a chance probably I’d also do the same & so would be the attitude of anyone getting this chance…

Secondly I disagree that Pakistan is a poor country. Where the head of state has such a convoy & the nation is also pretty rich (I know that), such a country can be anything but poor… look at USA, even their ‘presi’ doesn’t get such a convoy. We are rich & we have every right to do what we feel like… India is a poor country & that’s why their “presi” roams around in a pathetic Fiat Ambassador with just 1 bike leading the convoy, Shame on you indi people!

Anyways coming back to point… Our people always love to exaggerate; the whole process took 15 mins at MAX, give or takes a little and it was no way “hours n hours” like what we read in the newspaper. Since I was in the first row, thus when the show got over I had a clean road in front of me, I knew it was a 5 km patch where I wont get any car ahead of me, THIS was a golden opportunity to check what a Japanese 3.0 V6 engine has to offer, I was able to floor like never before nor ever imagined.

So for that I’d like to say, “Thank you, Mr.President! for providing me with such an opportunity.”

SALE!!!

Last Saturday I & Alta didn’t feel like doing any work so we thought to go for lunch where Sheharyar also joined us. After lunch we had a plan of going to T2F for the concert of Mizraab but since Alta is a cheater and cancelled that plan at the last moment so we decided to shop around a little instead. Apart from other places we also happen to drop in at the Nike outlet on Shaheed-e-Millat.

Now I don’t know if it was our good or bad luck that they were having a SALE on all stock… Alta was basically in mood of buying while I & Sheharyar were not too much in the mood. In the shop whatever thing we were looking at, a salesman used to come from no where & go like “This is XX% off”. The first impression which I got was “Okay! Are we this cheap?” (-: tried to explain that price is not an issue here but let us shop with our will but guess that was conveyed in some Alien language tough Urdu and English (both used there) are perfectly fine in rest of Karachi. I really liked a couple of things but decided not to buy due to the same reason. It was really annoying.

I would have happily increased his commission had he been with an approach “you know this is bla bla thing with bla bla material and its really in & new n all that kinda shit…” it would have been a favor if the price bit would’ve stayed out of the deal.

When you walk into the outlet of Nike, Levis or Armani etc, you expect them to sell some good quality stuff; you’re not looking for cheap products… If I am someone only considerate about price then why would I walk into Nike? I can go to Zaineb Market & get something on FULL price and would still save a good difference than the DISCOUNTED price of Nike…

Won’t it be nice if instead of crying their lungs out and stressing all the energy on the price bit they start going for the approach of quality? Don’t people buy branded stuff without a sale? Yes of course everyone likes to save a little money here & there BUT if you’re choosing a banded outlet then it definitely means you’re not looking ONLY at price factor.

I agree that some people are price conscious, you can use discount as a selling tool with them but everyone is not the same… There are actually some people who are quality conscious.

If you live in Karachi then you must have seen those people selling detergent powder on the roads, the catch is either you’ll get a gift in the box for FREE or the box is FREE… Still I don’t see anyone buying off off them… Why not??? It’s for free (-: but everyone knows those products are of low quality and that’s why they don’t take them even for free.

I teach people how to sell; I train them to be tele-sellers and the stats show that I’ve been doing a good job so far. This is what I’ve learned with my experience, whenever you tell a potential buyer about something going on a “special”, “discount”, “off” or even “free” that leaves the potential buyer with an impression that “Hey Buddy! Since you’re so cheap & can never afford it with its regular price so that’s why we’re giving a special so even people like YOU can buy it”. How insulting.

I guess we’re all loosing track here, we have the tools but we don’t know what is to be used when... When you are willing to pay a price then you deserve to get the service and quality accordingly… Why would I go to Nandos if I want to see a waiter with an attitude and chicken which smells? I won’t pay 1000 per head for that… If that’s what I’m to get then I’d be better off sitting at an Irani hotel and pay 50… Both will fill my belly (-:

My New Year Constitution (Looking at the size, I don’t think it’ll be fair to call this New Year Resolution)

Well… First month of 2009 has passed and I guess now it’s about time to write about what I plan to do in 2009. I didn’t want to write it before because I wasn’t sure if I’ll be doing what I plan to do.

1. First of all, my life pretty much stay on the same rule “Do on to others as you wish them to do on to you” BUT here’s a slight change in the plans… previously I used to treat others how I wished them to treat me however now I’ll be treating them how they treat me… (Devil with a cause).

2. Give more time to Mom & Dad.

2(a) Whatever is on their TO DO list should be treated with utmost priority.
2(b) HAVE TO be at home on all important occasions.
2(c) Forgetting something important is not an option.

3. Try to settle down. (Still waiting for a girl fool enough to accept me, “UFF… Khi ki larkiaan bhaut samajdar ho geye hain” lol)

4. Focus on expansion of Konsult-US & OFFSET Solutionz.

5. Work Hard and Party Harder.

5(a) Work Work Work (Monday Morning to Saturday Afternoon)
5(b) Nobody is allowed to talk anything related to work (Saturday Afternoon to Monday Morning.

6. Give more time to Pakwheels.com and other wheels related activities.

7. Watch AT LEAST 1 movie every week.

8. Buy one thing from my wish list every month.

8(a) Size doesn’t matter.
8(b) Price doesn’t matter.

9. Save & invest a little.

10. Keep coming back to this list to remind myself.

I guess this is all for now. Will be editing more as per requirement.
