Danda

Last month my Wi-Max connection stopped working all of a sudden. The error message I was getting was of “invalid user name and / or password” now this was kind of strange since all my dues were cleared and the connection was unlimited usage (because that’s what it meant in the days of dialup)

I called my provider to discuss the problem with them and I was told that the issue will be sorted within twelve hours and my complaint is registered, I got a complain number. When I checked it the next morning it was still not working. I called back to hear that I was misinformed the first time & it takes twenty four to forty eight hours and the tech support team will get back to me shortly. For the next two days I kept in touch with my provider for unlimited number of times and every time I used hear that I’ll be contacted by the tech support team within ten to fifteen minutes.

After two days when I spoke to the customer services representative and informed her that its been forty eight hours and I was initially told that it’ll take forty eight hours at max. She very calmly informed me that it takes FORTY EIGHT WORKING HOURS. If you’ve seen Tom and Jerry cartoons, there it happens when Jerry does something to piss Tom off and since Tom cannot do anything about it so all that happens is that a volcano comes out of his head and ears due to anger, well… All I can say is something similar happened to me.

I requested her to transfer my call to the supervisor or some shift in-charge to which I was informed that they don’t come to take calls and whatever it is I only have one option of banging my head with my phone. After repeatedly insisting she asked me to hold & came back on line after a couple of minutes to say that the supervisor is saying that he’ll definitely call me in ten minutes as he’s busy with something. I chose to believe her (as if I had any other option)

After waiting for the call for five hours I decided to launch a complaint against my provider to PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority). I was told by friends that PTA is very good in dealing with the consumer complaints so I thought to give it a try. After my email next two days were Saturday & Sunday (weekend). I didn’t bother calling my provider after complaining to PTA & was waiting for lady luck to shed some mercy on me.

Monday afternoon I got a call from the Tech Support Team of my provider who told me that his head of department asked him to call me and solve my internet related problem. I told him that I was out at that time so he gave me his personal mobile number and told me to call him back whenever I get time. I called him around 21:00 (after office hours) and he solved my problem within minutes. Turns out all I needed to do was to reinstall the drivers and it started working fine.

After that when I checked my email, There was an email from PTA which was carbon copied to me. It was addressed to my provider and some deadline was given to solve my problem. Also they had asked to report the cause of delay. When I checked the time that email was sent, it turns out I got the call from the Tech Support Guy just a few minutes after the email from PTA was sent.

I was highly impressed by what a Government Organization did for me. Like a lot of Pakistanis I also don’t think very highly of Government Departments but this made me reconsider my impression. However at the same time I was quite surprised the way my Internet provider acted in this scenario. They are a private company, they have a lot of competitors in the market yet I had to suffer at the cost of not having internet for five days just because they were a little lazy.

Why do we don’t do our jobs without being pressurized by some higher Authorities? A question I’ve been asking myself for a month now, may be one of you can come up with an answer...

Long March

Well if you think this post is about the Long March called by judges then you are so wrong... This post is actually about the LONG and hectic month of March that I had...

If you call it the bollywood way then my march was "full time mix masala pack" with some action, adventure, thrill, comedy and tragedy... oh that was 1 car chase scene as well (literally)

Actually if I look at it then my last month & a half were pretty hectic BUT "Long March" was more of a "hip" title for this post ;)

Work tensions, personal issues, had a fist fight after God knows how long, had a road accident after 7 yrs (somebody banged into my car from back). A lot of Road Trips... Gosh!!! I'm glad this whole thing is about to end...

So the main reason of this post was just to give a reason as WHY I wasnt writing lately (as if people care to read...lol) but hopefully now I'll be back and writing more regularly just the way I did back in FEB...

Just when I'm about to end this, something else is also entering my head... Ah! nevermind... best things r better off unsaid...

I messed up...

"What goes around comes around"

"Do on to others as you wish them to do on to you"

When I first started this blog, I promised myself that no more personal stuff... here I'll write about stuff which others can also relate to... Well that was a promise I made with myself along with a lot of other promises which I broke, for eg. I promised myself that I would never hurt someone who cares for me, Who even acknowledges my existence BUT I messed up and ended up hurting someone whom I never would want to in a million years.

Reason? Confusion & Lack of communication. All my fault & I declare myself guilty as charged.

So if I was an idiot to break such a big promise then I dont think breaking another promise of keeping this blog non personal matters...

IF that's the way it is then I'd like to say a few things here... Addressing someone thus if others are not able to understand then please dont bother asking because this is only meant for one individual who I hope will...

I'm going to write para by para

"Frankly speaking, when I read that thing the night it was written I thought it was written for (you know) I thought it was more of a copy / paste thing... I was told earlier this week that thing was for me AND last night when I found out it was actually written by you... All I can say is I'm more guilty and whatever YOU decide about the situation in hand will be accepted and I dont deserve to have any other option but to respect & accept your decision.

Base of good & healthy relationship in my opinion is BLIND FAITH (just trust is not good enough), Sincerity AND a feeling that nothing is hidden among the two. If any of the things are shaken then it is really not easy to start over BUT one, JUST ONE last chance should be given because we are all human beings & we all make mistakes. We're no saints here. You yourself said that there are suspicions IF they are not sure about commitment. That answers my situation here and you know what I mean.

Agree, Talking does help BUT when the situation is clear, I already told you why that all appeared accurate to me and what really made my mind go hibernate was the fact that I thought I was lied to which I could never have expected from you in a million years. A little bit of jealousy & possessiveness is required to keep things smooth and sometimes the same is mixed up with another feeling... When you're mad about someone then you want to know each & every bit of details happening in their life... you dont even want to miss a single second... Very close to that of possessiveness & jealousy BUT totally different."

In the end, I'd like to conclude it by saying... I want to have that BLIND FAITH in you, all I need is 1 chance & a new start. When someone makes a mistake they apologize and the bigger person forgives.

Technology!

A few days back a friend suggested me to watch "He's not all that into you" (to all my male readers... it was a mistake to watch it because the movie is WAY too girly)

Apart from the whole movie... there was a scene where Drew Barrymore is complaining that it used to be so easy in the old days when we only had 1 phone & 1 voicemail to check if somebody left a message or not... nowadays we have so many things which we say help us stay in touch with our friends & family all the time but is that really a help or a headache? Headache because now instead of 1 voicemail we have to check so many things, if someone left a message on facebook, myspace, orkut, sms, voicemail, mobile phone miss calls and the list goes on...

That was something I was able to connect to... Specially after last month when I was feeling like a tele operator... I used to carry 2 cell phones till last yr but eventually I got rid of 1... but Recently I had to face a time where I was using THREE phones and all of them ringing all the time... staying on phone all the time while with friends or family annoying all of them that I dont have time or them... Glad I'm back to one phone again...

SO the question is... is the technology really helping US? wasnt it simple when we used to have one phone lying at home and one at office, if you're available you're available if not then other will simply leave a message...

I have a friend in Canada and she doesnt use a cell phone at all... she says she wants her privacy and a cell phone doesnt help... very impressive... "Mai bhi bara ho ker aisa hi keroon ga"

Okay I dont feel like writing anymore so I guess instead of dragging it I should end it here...
