Tips on Buying a Used Car

It’s seen a lot of times that when someone is looking to buy a used car, they face a lot of difficulties, confusions and doubts regarding the condition of the car. As if there are any accidents, how’s the over all condition of the car and if the car is legitimate or not.

One should check 4 things before buying a used car, 2 of them being major decision maker & remaining 2 being minor things.

Major Decision Makers

1. Body Condition:

Often there’s confusion whether the car has faced any accidents or repaired etc, this can be checked very easily.

First off all try to inspect the car when it’s properly cleaned & under sunlight so all the body parts are clearly visible. A lot of times you feel a slight difference in shade of colour if it’s painted. Once you’re doubtful then go for a close inspection of that particular body part. There are small droplets of paint on the edges or here n there which came due to the paint spray when repainting. Also you can look if there’s some moulding, light, or any other part next to that part which is of different colour, often a very small amount of paint can be found on the edges of that other part. It is only visible if you look closely. If it’s a fender, boot or hood then you can also check from the inside & you may find signs of welding (if it was repainted due to accident).

If the car has only one or two parts painted i.e. either a door or a fender then it’s not a big deal but if it has three or more than three parts painted or either hood or boot is painted then the car might went through a major accident and in that case one should avoid buying that car unless you’re getting a great bargain. Also 90% of cars have their bumpers repainted due to small scratches etc. thus if its just bumpers repainted then the car can be considered as original.

2. Car’s History

Another major thing is to check if the car has some criminal record i.e. has been stolen, snatched or used in any criminal activity. That can easily be checked by calling CPLC helpline. When you give them registration, chassis & engine number they provide you with all the history of car & one should buy a car only after getting clearance from CPLC, if they object then one should avoid buying that car under any circumstances.

Minor things to be checked when buying a car:
I am calling these as minor issues because they can be easily fixed but one should check them before buying a car as they are also some good expenses.

3. Engine

The condition of engine is also something which should be checked before one decides to buy a car. This can be easily checked by opening the hood… hehe, just kidding. One can check it by opening the oil lid in engine, and after opening it accelerate the car in idle mode. If you see smoke coming out of oil chamber then it’s a sign that engine will need overhauling in near future.

4. Suspension

To check the suspension of a car one should always take a test drive, try to drive on a bumpy road & see if there are any unusual sounds. Try to drive a little fast (Approx 30-40km/hr) on a bumpy road. If there’s any unusual sound then get it checked by a mechanic.

Other than these, there are a few other things which one needs to check when buying a used car such as:

• If there are any original number plates missing.
• If the car is re-registered.
• If there’s any duplicate file.
• In-case of SUVs one should check if the body was changed after an accident or something & if the body is changed then make sure the new body on the chassis is of the same year as that of the car in-order for the car to qualify as completely legal.

These are a few things which can help a person make decision when buying a used car. One thing that I mostly see in buyers is that they ask for the mileage of car as how many kilometres (or miles) it has been driven. I would say that doesn’t matter at all because if the car has been used with care then it doesn’t matter how many miles it has been driven. Here’s a funny thing about this, these days there are a lot of used cars being imported from abroad. In those cars a 90,000kms driven car is better than 50,000kms driven. Do you know why? Unlike Pakistan there they have road fitness rules. It is mandatory by the law that once a vehicle reaches 65,000-70,000/kms it is sent back to the dealership & completely overhauled with everything getting changed & comes out as a brand new car. So if there’re two cars one is having 50,000/kms & other 90,000/kms on dial then in reality one is 50,000/kms used while other is only 25,000-30,000/kms used.

In the end I would like to conclude by saying that if you’re buying a used car then don’t expect it to be in 100% condition, it’s a used car. USED there will be some bits n chunks which you will need to fix eventually to get it in a condition as per your requirement.

Defination of Love

My pick on one of the oldest question:-

Often we associate physical attraction with love. My question is… if that is love then what about a couple in their 70s… they (under normal obvious circumstances) can’t have any intimate or physical relationship, can they? So does that mean they stop loving the other? They still love each other (in most cases more than the time they got married) but their love is to take care of each other with the other is ill, make sure the other is eating properly, taking their medicine on time. The other day I saw an elderly couple, they didn’t look really well off, so they order one mix chaat and start sharing, now both of them wanted the other to eat more so they both kept telling the other they don’t feel like eating… That was an adorable display of love.

Physical relation is something even animals have but that doesn’t mean they're in love... love is for human beings and its for caring, being concerned, animals don’t care if the other one is alright or not, they just want to achieve their level of satisfaction and move on, but human beings when in an intimate contact with the one they love, make sure the other is not in pain or anything... so when people say love for wife is different than love for mom... I disagree... love is love... you love someone you care for, you get protective for, you want to give them everything you can & so on... these things remain the same for any relation you love.

Basically there's just one type of love... there aren’t different types of love because physical attraction is not love so when you say you first fall in love then physical attraction comes in... I would not agree to that because the thing, first you get to know someone, then something attracts you and then you fall in love with that person.

So basically what I’m saying is, it can’t be called love marriage... because you can’t love someone in a day

Okay lets put it this way... There are 3 couples

1. A & B
2. X & Y
3. M & N

Now A & B get attracted to each other on anything... lets say physical beauty your typical “Love at first sight” & they decided to marry... after marriage A realizes B is not the wife he was looking for or vice versa, because the other is only good looking but rude, selfish & what not... can A fall in love with B then? Or vice versa

On the other hand, X & Y are friends; first X is not attracted to Y but later when their friendship grows strong X finds out that Y is an amazing person... she's concerned about everyone, she's caring & bla bla bla... Now X wants to care for Y, he wants Y to be happy for she's always wishing good for everyone... That is when X begins to love Y because he knows he can take care of Y like no one else can and that’s a love marriage.

The reason I'm against arranged marriages is because when two people... M & N are introduced by their families k lo beta milo & see if you want to spend the rest of your life with this person, both M & N will present their best selves (may be fake) because they both know if the other approves me, we'll be together forever & then the other one will find out my real self but it'll be too late… ha ha ha (evil laugh)

Now lets see what love is; love is when you want to care for someone, when you get depressed if the other is depressed, you fight with other knowing it’ll all be well by the end of the day since you both don’t have any other choice but to make up and so on.

How do families operate in our society? Siblings fight but do they break all ties & decide they’re better off without each other so they don’t talk at all? No, if one member of family is ill the whole family is concerned & worried and doing anything they can to make the ill one comfortable, if I go to market to buy my favourite donut knowing that it is my sister’s favourite donut too so plan to buy 2, and if I find out there’s only one left at the shop, I’ll bring that home for my sister and if my sisters finds out I couldn’t get one as it was only one there, she’ll decide to share it with me. That is sacrifice for someone you love. Most of times, we have the same feeling for our close friends as well. All the same feelings are there for wife too. Then there’s an added physical attraction / intimate relation which is not love, that’s a different thing.

So I conclude this with following definition:-

“A feeling in which you think about someone else before you, you care for someone else more than you care for yourself without getting physically attracted to them is love”

Thank You!

My last post was exactly 2 months back i.e. 4th Nov. 09 and frankly speaking, I’ve sorta lost my appetite for writing but today I’m extremely bored and its too soon to hit bed. I still read all my favourite bloggers tough, well… not all of them but most of them :-) So I was reading a blog of Humaira where she mentioned that she was unable to write for a whole month & after a month when she finally got back to it, she checked her analytics & found out that she had over 1200 hits, wow! I mean she didn’t write for a whole month & still got so many hits… That kinda kicked me to check my analytics too and the result is as follows:-

I know my stats are no where near to her’s but… oh well, its always quality over quantity :P so I would like to thank you all for keeping a check :-)

New Year just started and I’ve a feeling that this year is going to be a great year, last year I left a lot of things and got used to a lot of new things, some are things I still want to leave… Somethings I left and still miss, somethings I left & am thankful that I’m away from them, some new things I got & now feel I don’t want them anymore and some new things which I got & my love for them is growing by each day… I still want to leave MSN tough as gtalk & skype are 100 times better alternatives but there’s something about msn which is not letting me part off…

I don’t know in which category I should put my passion for writing, clearly its not there anymore but like today… there are exceptional days… after giving it a thought I decided to declare myself as a legend… (I know I know I know :P)… Like Sean Connery takes 1 great movie every few years since he’s retired, I’ll also blog once in a blue moon… You might see me conducting some workshop on blogging (which is something in the pipeline btw) but I won’t write regularly… I simply don’t want to share every single detail of my life on the World Wide Web. First I thought to make a new blog with the name “From the pages of a Retired Blogger” but then I thought that would be too dramatic and also it’s a lot of hassle in making a new blog and then what about all you people who have nothing better to do in life then to check my blog for new posts? So I’m continuing with this account, fewer posts & a change of heading should do :-)

Tsunami

Last few days have been pretty rough… confusing, bizarre… I don’t know… Why does it happen that sometimes when you say something casually it is taken as something totally different than what you intended and you get a reaction which you never expect… And mind you! These are not some random people you casually know, these are people who you think know you and you think would understand where you’re coming from… All in all, you’re left shocked asking yourself if something THIS small can really be a reason enough to lead to the results which it lead to and why some consideration can’t be given to all the good old times.

Then you get a “message” that everyone wants things to work and while you’re thinking how to approach the matter you get another “message” totally different from the previous one and you’re left more confused…

Well… there’s something that I believe in i.e. when everything is going wrong then it doesn’t mean our time is wrong but it means that the one above is trying to tell us that we’re wrong somewhere… I guess I need to take some time out from everything and focus on where I’m going wrong and work on it… Before I go, I’d like to apologize for anything I did which hurt anyone in anyway, only I know that I didn’t mean to…

And for myself, I need the tsunami to go and wait for the time when I’m in a position to see everything clearly… I guess its time to move on...

Adeem Hashmi describes my situation very nicely by saying:

“Pathar hai tere haath mai ya koi phool hai
Jub tu kabool hai tera sub kuch kabool hai

Phir tu ne de dia hai naya fasla mujhe
Sir per abhi to pichli musafat ki dhool hai

Tu dil pe bojh le ke mulakat ko na aa
Is jurm se to teri judai kabool hai

Tu yaar hai to itni kari guftugu na ker
Tera asool hai to mera bhi asool hai

Lafzoon ki abroo ko gunwaoo na yun “adeem”
Jo manta nahi usey kehna fazool hai”

Theories of My Life - The Glass Theory

This is a new section in which I’ll write some theories of my life. I’ll keep adding under this label per my mood.

First theory that I’d like to share is “THE GLASS THEORY”

If we pour 300ml water in a glass which can only hold upto 250ml, remaining 50ml will spill out of the glass. It’s not the fault of glass that we tried to pour more water than it could handle.

Same applies to people as well…

My Life

1st November, a slow winter morning, the change of time thing made me wake up early as I’m confused as what time it really is. Is this the purana time now? Or what we had till yesterday shall now be considered as purana time? So confusing… Apparently for no reason I kinda look forward to this winter…

Life’s going pretty well… Started off with PakWheels.com dealers program last week and I’m enjoying that work, may be because its related to cars and cars have been a passion ever since… Even got the mood to write a few lines of my book too last week, so I’m happy about that too…

Oh! A funny dream I had last week, i.e. I’m getting married… not funny, right? Funny part is, I’m getting married forcefully… hehehe… Actually it’s so I’m sitting in front of Moulana for Nikkah and my bro & bro in law are sitting on both sides, every time I try to run away, they both grab me by arms. I woke up trying to run… so that was quite an effort. LOL

Comments of family when the dream was shared,

Mom “I also had a similar dream”
Bhena “Bakrey ki maa kub tak khair manaye gi?”
Sabah “Beta! Eventually this is what will happen to you”
Mona “See? That’s a warning, now either you agree or that’s going to happen”
Aisha “This is a signal that something is about to happen”

Anyways… That was for all of you to have a good laugh and I hope you enjoyed it as much as me & my family did.

What else? Oh yea, I’ve oneness core group meet-up in few hours and after that, err… I want to do something but confused if I should or shouldn’t :-s let’s see…

What else? Ummm… I guess that’s about it…

Movie Review - Wake UP Sid!

After the movie, my friends were like "Wake UP Omer! Let's go home, movie is over"

I guess if that is not enough then nothing can be :-)

October 22nd 2009, 01:10am PST

Today was a different day, a very few cars on the roads of Karachi. I & the roads of my Karachi are used to traffic jams… So even a few cars there made the roads seem almost empty…

There was a weird feeling in the atmosphere, after the recent terrorist activities happening around the country and schools closed as precaution after the Islamic University blast in Islamabad yesterday… I wasn’t born when my Pakistan was in a war situation back in 1965 & 1971… My mother tells me that they closed all the schools back when my Pakistan fought those wars. So are we really in the state of war? Rahman Malik on TV says so…

What’s this depression that I feel? As if something is about to happen, my ears are alert to hear a sound of blast whenever I’m out… This is not how my Karachi has ever been… We’ve seen crisis situations before and things have been bad in the past… But this is more than anyone can handle…

Right now I sit in my chair thanking Allah for saving me, my family, relatives & all my friends & their families from these terrorism activities. We all are safe and somewhat lucky Alhumdulillah! But I also think, how long? How long am I going to stay lucky? They way things are going I don’t see myself to be lucky long enough… I’m very selfish and may be the next terrorist activity takes someone from me whom I actually care for… What am I going to do then? I want to get out of this feeling of depression… I want to feel free & safe again…

WAKE UP Pakistan!!!

Aye khuda jub bhi tera asmaan dekhta hoon
Us mai basa ek jahaan dekhta hoon
Na janey kitney hi jahaanon ki sair kerta hoon
Khol ker jab tera Quran dekhta hoon
Tere ahsaan kitne hain bandoon pey
Jab bhi Surah-e-Rehmaan dekhta hoon
Tu tou kehta hai rag-e-jaan sey bhi hon MEI qareeb
Phir pareshan kyu aaj ka insaan dekhta hoon
Us ki rehmat sey kabhi mayoos na hona aye dost
Tujh pe mai USKI rehmat kay nishaan dekhta hoon

Somebody asked Quaid-e-Azam 2 months before the creation of Pakistan, “Mr.Jinnah! How do you think this newly born will survive without any resources?” Jinnah Replied, “I know we don’t have any material resources, but I trust my nation.”

It’s been 62 years since Pakistan appeared on World Map, are we how Jinnah anticipated us to be?

“I’m sad, I’m in pain, I’m hurt” This is probably what our motherland is shouting at us today, are we even bothered to listen? Do we even care for our country? If you have a pet at your house, I’m sure if that pet is in danger, you’ll do whatever it takes to keep it safe from that danger, do we care for an animal more than we care for our country?

I grew up hearing “This is a great nation.” I agree, but why do we need to see a disaster to witness the greatness? Why are we divided into Sindhi, Punjabi, Pathan, Baloch or Mahajur otherwise? Why can’t we always be Pakistani?

“Our government is corrupt”
“Our politicians are corrupt”
“Our nation is corrupt”

WOW!!! Easily blame it on others… Everyone is corrupt but me… and what am I? A bloody hypocrite… Government officials & Politicians are what? A one million people at MAX? How can a mere million be responsible for the situation of a nation of ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY people?

How many of us can swear that they’ve never bribed anyone? How many of us didn’t bribe a police sergeant to get away with some minor traffic violation? We all are equally corrupt and we all are responsible of where we are today… Why is the personal interest greater than the interest of all of us?

Is Government responsible for when I don’t follow a queue? Is it the fault of my Government that I throw garbage on the road? Why don’t we stop blaming it all on Government & for a change step up and have the balls to take responsibility.

We can be a great nation, all we have to do is to be best at whatever we do… doesn’t matter if I’m a plumber, architect, mechanic, doctor or tailor… All I have to do is to be the best plumber, architect, mechanic, doctor or tailor… If all of us start doing it on individual level then we will definitely see a difference on the bigger picture…

Is the Moment REALLY Now? / I CAN write

I & Annie went out to discuss my book last Sunday, it was one of the most fun Sundays in years… Now the way she was working on my book was pretty impressive… like as if she knew it all as how its going to be & stuff, frankly speaking after looking at her work I was more like asking myself if I can do this? She was impressive, I saw her writing for the first time… You know, whatever I write is about some personal experiences… Now with this book it’s more like making stuff on my own, thinking of a story…

Anyways… I at a lot of times see the digit 19 flashing next to my drafts folder of gmail. Trust me I’ve no clue what those 19 unsent emails are… hehehe… Anyways, today I thought to take a look.

Funny how our preferences change with time, I made this gmail account about 4 yrs back I guess and in these 4 years I’ve changed… A LOT… now I’m thankful to God for not sending those drafted emails to the recipients they were meant for, because if I had, it would’ve been so so so stupid… lol… Stuff I used to consider so cool back then appears so silly now… Funny all I want now is X but in 5 years from today when I’ll have X or Y may be, I’ll think of myself as silly for wanting X back then… So is the moment really NOW? Or is there more to it? May be if I get what I want today then it wont appear silly after 5 years because I’ll be content for having what I will have then.

Then I came across this email where I had actually bothered writing a subject, and that subject reminded me about a song that I used to have, I thought it was that song which I don’t have on me anymore so I opened that email wanting to download that song…

Turns out, that was this one unpublished story which I wrote a few years back, it was like a complete story that I came up with, from start to the end… I don’t remember why & when I attached that into an email & then saved it there… I didn’t even remember writing that story… I don’t think I even discussed or showed that particular thing to anyone… and compared to that, the work that I’ve done on this book of mine? Its absolutely great…

So going back to that drafts folder & finding that piece of writing gave me a new level of confidence, now I know I did it back then and am doing A LOT better now… means I can do it for sure… Plus now I’ve Annie helping me on that… InshAllah that book for sure will be better & great…

Banking – Then & Now

I’m excited about this post because today after ages I’ve something really worth blogging (-:

I remember when I was a kid there used to be a series on our PTV or something called Guest House or something… It was the same show which introduced the famous “Jaan Rambo”

Once they had this episode in which a Pakistani living abroad comes back to his homeland and his first stop was the guest house as apparently he had no relatives or anything. At the time of board in the management of Guest house ask for some financial security as how he is going to clear his bill, he shows a Bank Draft saying that this is his life time saving which he’ll be able to use once he gets a bank account. In the entire show they didn’t disclose the amount of that draft but they gave an impression as if that was some outrageously huge amount…

Anyways, the entire episode was on how difficult it was for that guy to get an account in Pakistan because he knew nobody and no bank was willing to give him an account without any reference despite the fact that he was going to deposit a huge amount and in the end “Jaan Rambo” helps him as he’s holding an account for his savings.

Anyways… That was then, now I was probably only dealing with my piggy bank back in the day so I had no clue how difficult it was to deal with real banking. When I started dealing with banks on my own was about 10yr back and there were some references issues then minimum balance requirements but nothing alien at all. Here’s something interesting that happened to me today & I’d like to share with all…

Today I walked into a branch of one of our local banks. My main intention was to get some inquiry about their services as I’ll need another account in next few days… As soon as I stepped into the office, here’s what happened:-

When I was not even a foot away from the door I was greeted by one of their sales executives, He introduced himself to me and asked me to have a seat, we started off with a casual conversation, he kept offering me for tea or coffee but as I kept refusing every time because, a) I’m not on heavy caffeine intake, b) I was on my way for a lunch meeting and c) I had a colleague sitting in car as I had told him to wait till I quickly come back after picking up their brochures.

To sum the long story short… The branch consisted of 3 men & 1 woman (including their branch manager), all 4 of them pitched me their different products, desperation was clearly visible from their attitude, took my phone number for follow up and offered me a cup of coffee (more than once). When I informed them I was in hurry since I had someone waiting in car, the sales guy got off his seat so he can go out and invite my colleague. I didn’t give the details of car otherwise he was all up for inviting him…

When I took all my required info, he offered me coffee one more time saying, “We have the BEST coffee in this area.”

I left the place leaving all 4 of them speechless when I replied “If you serve the best coffee in the area then perhaps you should consider opening a coffee shop and close the bank” (-:

So the question is, is this all due to financial recession or are we really customer friendly now?

Good Mood!

I'm playing the following track on repeat for over 2 hours now...

"You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like Heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

Pardon the way that I stare.
There's nothing else to compare.
The sight of you leaves me weak.
There are no words left to speak,
But if you feel like I feel,
Please let me know that it's real.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

I love you, baby,
And if it's quite alright,
I need you, baby,
To warm a lonely night.
I love you, baby.
Trust in me when I say:
Oh, pretty baby,
Don't bring me down, I pray.
Oh, pretty baby, now that I found you, stay
And let me love you, baby.
Let me love you.

You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like Heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

I love you, baby,
And if it's quite alright,
I need you, baby,
To warm a lonely night.
I love you, baby.
Trust in me when I say:
Oh, pretty baby,
Don't bring me down, I pray.
Oh, pretty baby, now that I found you, stay..
And let me love you, baby.
Let me love you.

I need you, baby,
To warm a lonely night.
I love you, baby.
Trust in me when I say:
Oh, pretty baby,
Don't bring me down, I pray.
Oh, pretty baby, now that I found you, stay
And let me love you, baby.
Let me love you."

How often do you come across a situation when things that matter more to you are not going in the direction you want them to go but there are other less important things which are going in the direction which is beneficial for you and because of those less important things you’re able to over look the more important ones and feel happy about the ones which you’re getting?

I normally don’t feel this way… So yes I’m in an exceptionally good mood tonight… The week on the whole was good, oneness brunch tomorrow after a gap of few weeks, those small things, small gestures made by some random people to recognize your efforts are very motivational. So even if after those small things, something BIG and more important goes as you don’t want it to… You don’t get ticked off like you would normally… Okay now Mona (my elder sis in KSA) is bugging me on IM, so let me talk to her, I’ll be back in a bit…

Rumaisa (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/album.php?aid=62363&id=504055961&op=12) is going to have her Tonsils removed on 6th Oct, so please pray for her health. Thanks!

So where was I? Yea so how would you feel if your big plans don’t go as you want them to go? Pissed? Exactly!!! But I’m not feeling ticked off… I’m no where near to that feeling… Infect I’m trying to understand the situation, after all everyone has problems and issues and preferences… So one has to give space… But hey! One thing for the records! “Plan ‘B’ Achey Hotey Hain” (Like Surf Excel slogan “Daag tou achey hotey hain”?)

So highlights of the week… I’ve finally started working on my book i.e. wrote a few lines, people have been extra generous, got 2 really cool gifts this week, got myself involved with 2 new projects and the Facebook page Mind Talk (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mind-Talk/146227751049) that I made also got 88 fans within first week… Apparently life is good (-:

Btw did I tell you that Aisha makes delicious “Bhindi”? I know its English is Lady Finger but “Bhindi” sounds more delicious, also I’m sure we all at least meet one person in life who gets annoyed when people call him / her “Bhindi”

LIFE

p.s. (yes I know it’s supposed to be in the end… my blog – my rules) All you need to get in the frequency to write is when someone tells you they read your blog… (Those who you don’t expect to)

Today was Eid-ul-Fitar… One of the most boring days of the year… yea yea I know I know… it’s a religious festival, holiday, great importance & bla bla…

Personally I don’t have anything against this festival… it’s just the routine drill that I don’t really appreciate… I’m sure everyone has a set pattern as how they celebrate their Eid day… Same here, I mean how cool is that? You get bored of your routine daily life and then comes a festival, a day which is supposed to be different but DANG! There you go spending that day as per its defined routine… Between you & me, I don’t think it’s cool at all…

Anyways… so my day started off with the routine “Eid Drill” that is performed on every Eid day, every year and will continue that way for many years to come… So finally when the day was getting over and we finally planned to return home, Aisha from back seat thought (loud enough for us to hear) that it’s a sin to have dinner at home on Eid Day. (Again nothing unexpected)

So we went to this famous restaurant in the vicinity of Clifton… Boy! Was that place crowded? I mean people were getting nuts over food… too crowded… When we got a table & finally started eating, I realized I was not liking the ambiance at all, (tough it was one of my most favorite places) so I didn’t enjoy the meal and wanted to get out of there ASAP…

So after getting home I started thinking about the reason why I acted that strangely… and now I finally know… What I didn’t enjoy was a hundred people gathering to contribute their share in noise pollution.... I don’t like the “Yo” places anymore… I don’t want to dine at a famous joint; I only want to be somewhere quite… I’m changing… Now I only like to be around a certain type of people… I would’ve loved the meal if it were just my family or a certain group of friends…

Now this thought made me think of something else too which I’ve been discussing with a few people for last few days… I don’t know if I should write a separate blog about that or shall I include it here, anyways… here’s an exercise… Go through the phonebook of your cell phone, list of contacts on your IM or FB etc… and start going through the names…

Some of the names are your close contacts, you stay in touch with them and you know what’s going on in their lives… Then some names will be of some people whom you know but not very closely… You just know them through one way or the other; you know the information which is only required to know about them… Now comes the most interesting bit… the remaining set of names will be of the people who were a part of your life at one point, but then something happened and now you don’t talk, or may be nothing happened but still you don’t talk to them, you see them online on your IM all the time but you never bother to message them, if I talk about myself, I’ve a total of 1000 friends, how many of them I regularly talk to? 25 at max… May be this is also circle of life, people come, play their part & then take off… May be this is also one big routine game… May be… Who knows?

So, look at those names & think, think when was the last time you spoke to them, why did you never call them back? What do you know about their current life? Those names on screen are not just names… They also are human beings, just like us… They have a life like ours too… Don’t you want to know what’s going on in that life now? Would you like the idea of catching up? I would love to…

If you feel the way I do… then promise yourself that you’ll casually say Hi to them every once in a while… Sometimes, acknowledging that someone exists is all that is needed to make a difference… Now you know why p.s. was in the beginning?

Puri Sahib… Just Puri Sahib for today…

Blog with a Reason

Okay… Normally I only write when my mind is in a specific frequency… But today I’m no where near to being in that frequency however I still am writing just because I want to…

Now if I’m writing without a reason then there has to be some really good reason for you to bare this (-: so I have reasons… like more than 1?

1. Alta & Annie two of my most favorite bloggers made new entries today so why should I stay back? Right?
2. I’m in exceptionally good mood today. Why? I’ve reasons for everything (-;
a. No work till Thursday due to Eid Holidays
b. I went out with Ricky & Annie today and it was great fun, had iftar / dinner followed by ice cream… (Ricky! If you’re reading this, I would’ve been happier if you weren’t there :-P)
3. Finally Annie & I decided what my book is going to be about… (Did I mention that I’m thinking of writing a book?)

So enough reasons eh? But now the problem is… I don’t know what to write about… lolz

Hmmm… so lets start with highlights of the day.

Work usual, Karsaz Naval Mart – over crowded as it was last day before eid so that was a pain, Kushi didn’t clean car properly (probably had a fight with wife before coming to work), Asif’s topis at the top of the world AND once again, evening with Annie & Ricky…

Hmmm…. What else? Oh yea…

Had this discussion with Annie & Ricky, they’re of the opinion that after being in a relationship for over 3-4 years, one looses the spice of it… as in things get too much of routine & thus one looses interest, what do you all think? I strongly disagree… If its love then its supposed to get stronger with time… It may change its face but it is there… like after being married for about 37 years (my ma & pa) and 5 kids, 3 kids-in-law & 5 grand kids… How would you feel if my mom comes out of kitchen singing “urain jub jub zulfain teri, kawarion dil machley jind meriye!” if she does any such thing then we all will be saying “budhi gori lal lagaam” right? So she can’t do that, that’ll be too off… what she does is, dad doesn’t need look for his medicines, his food is there on time, the things which he’s allergic to stay out of home, his clothes are there all ready & on time, mom remembers when he’s supposed to see the doctor etc etc etc… so that is love, right? So Annie & Ricky! Beat that!

As I write this I'm having the same discussion with Mannu on msn and she says, "u dont need the spark when something more stronger is there :)" I strongly believe in that... Thanks Mannu!

Ouch! Just now I tried… I think my sore throat is turning REAL BAD!!! (Annie you’re to be blamed because I only ate that stupid ice cream to give you company)

Okay Enough with his blog... Time to close

Puri Sahib in a different mood ;-)

Just like that!

I was not able to write in last few days... No major reason other than life happening :) things are going smooth, at a nice pace... No major complains :)

Ramadan is almost over, Friends, Family, Work... all is keeping me busy... Like I always say... My mind has to be in a certain frequency for me to write... For last couple of days my mind is simply refusing to go in that frequency :) (not a bad thing, infect a very good thing) :)

Even today my mind is not in that frequency... but I'm still writing just for the heck of it & just so I can send the message across that I'm still Alive...

Puri Sahib... Alive :)

Toy Baby

I should be sleeping at this time but since I'm waiting for someone to safely reach home thats why I've nothing better than to write a blog... As you all should know by now that I happen to be a king of Bloopers but what I did today is THE cherry on top...

Today I went to Makro with Mom & Aisha for some Pre Ramadan grocery shopping... (there should be another blog written about the experience of shopping but something more interesting right now)

So when we were done with shopping & standing in the billing line I saw this Stuffed Toy Baby which was lying on top of grocery in a shopping cart in the next lane... Now this baby actually looked real so I got excited about the finishing of this Chinese product...

Me : Aisha check this stuffed baby.
Aisha : Nahi bhai! thats a real baby.
Me : Beta you're mistaken, its toy, look its still and lying on top of grocery... nobody puts their real baby on top of grocery.

Now while we're having this discussion while looking at the baby cart (and pointing towards the toy baby) the lady behind the cart asks us "Kia Hawa?" (what happened?) now due to her high pitch voice "the toy baby came to life & woke up..." (yes Aisha was correct)

The Lady : Kia Hawa?
Her expression was as if she's not really pleased with me & Aisha and if you happen to know me & Aisha then u must be aware that we are the most non violent people EVER!!! so to cover up the situation I made the most funnies face I could in that situation and
Me : he he... I'm sorry but I thought it was a toy ka baby!
The Lady : ha ha... No no... its a real baby

"And is taraan Puri Sahib bharey baazar aik aurat k haatoon pitney se bachey..."

But seriously? who keeps a real baby on top of grocery? and look at the baby! such an actor... playing toy so people get beaten up... not done )-:

I Hate Rain

Everyone asks me “why?” when I tell them that I hate rain… I’m called different things (all negative) when I say that but still, I really don’t appreciate this weather… So I thought I should answer all the “why’s” (-: (another reason is, World Call is down and I cant be online)

Its said that there’s a child inside of every adult just wondering what the hell happened… So I suppose same is the case with me as well… The child inside me loves rain like everyone else, he gets excited, all giggles, he wants to dance in the water… But then there’s an adult too inside of me and he thinks, he can see… So when he sees the other side of picture the dislike of rain gets bigger than the like of rain.

When that adult sees, he sees the world outside of his home… he sees that there’s a totally different world in the same city, while he can enjoy some coffee sitting beside window looking outside at the water making the lawn look more beautiful, there are people in other parts of the city who at the same time are trying to survive through this rain… for them this rain is just another misery… home is where we all feel the safest, whatever the worries, dangers and hazards the world has to offer… we are safe from all those when in our home… For them rain is an “occasion” when they’re busy getting the water out of their homes.

When for me the problems of rain are like, world call is down today or water went in the fuel tank of generator so I’ve to sit in dark with no electricity… For them the problems of rain are like, taking a kid to hospital who got electric shock or finding a new roof for the house because the old was blown away by the wind before rain…

So when I look at “that” side of the rain, I don’t like rain and the fact that I cannot do anything depresses me )-:

Now someone might ask what did I do? I’d say I used to help people from 2002 till 2004… (-: we used to have a Nissan Patrol back then so me with a friend used to take that out in the rain to help people broken down cars... Sounds pretty “Mother Theresaish”? he he… well… let me give all the readers a tip, if I say something as simple as 2+2=4 then there must be something…

I would say, “accident” got me & my friend into helping others, one rainy day back in 2002, we both were coming from the Mai Kolachi Bypass when we saw this girl standing next to the road with her Baleno all in water… Wanting to be “hero” we both decided to become “superman”. After tying her car with the tow wire, my friend asked her if she knows how to handle when being towed, she said no… Having no clue about it myself (which I learned only last week that how a car is handled when being towed)… My friend decided to sit in her car while she sat with me… By the time we reached her house in Phase V... I had her phone number ;-) realizing this as an “Easy Sport” my friend urged me to get into this “profession”… and like I always say... negativity spreads faster than the speed of light… I was a part of this within no time… (yea I know it was pretty lame & looserish)

Since then we both used to board the Patrol whenever there use to rain trying to look for “Girls in pain”… But when we actually got into that we realized that either girls drive good cars which don’t breakdown OR they don’t get out in rain… thus we ended up providing a service with almost no “market” (sounds like any business, eh?)

Then once there was an uncle with a good looking daughter whom we decided to “help” as the saying goes, “50% of something is better than 100% of nothing”… so one thing lead to another and then we were like, “since we’re out in the rain with no girls needing our help, lets just help the guys too for the sake of it” oh just for the records, we both have been “100% straight” throughout our “careers” so the helping guys thing was some genuine help…

So we helped people in rain from 2002 till 2004 & enjoyed doing so… Then in 2004, my friend got a job and got a new girlfriend there so after that he liked spending time with her whenever it use to rain… so that gives me 1 more reason to hate rain because I don’t get to continue my “sport” anymore…

Puri Sahib… the Hate for Rain continues

Khali Demagh Shaitan Ka Ghar!

I know the name of this blog is in URDU but "Ye mera blog hai aur meri merzi mai jo keroon"

Today at Oneness Breakfast I found something about myself...

There we did an exercise where we all were asked to write 20 things which makes us happy... and the worst part is, Taronish sitting next to me was not in the mood of "helping" hehe...

Now what amazed me was... it was very easy for everyone to write 20 things that make them happy... and on the other hand... I was all err... after 5... trust me, till the end, I was not able to complete the 20 things, 18 was max I could come up with...

So in the end everyone was asked to read 3 things off their list... People had stuff like sleep, chocolate, food, music etc etc... and then I was like DANG!!! I like all that too but I never noticed that that stuff makes me happy... May be I dont think too much... I just live in the moment... Dont know if its good or bad... BUT my list had stuff like Teasing others, Practical Jokes, Pranks (when played on others) etc etc etc... and thats when everyone wanted to hear whole of my list... Obviously I was not gonna share everything there (gota leave some stones unturned) so I told them that remaining stuff is more of Mother Theresaish...

So thats when the title of this blog comes in... you either start noticing small stuff or you better warn those around you... Now since I dont notice these small things thats why it always has to be something BIG to make me happy... stuff like an unexpected phone call from an old friend, When u walk into home after a long hectic day your mom bringing you a glass of cold water... that can also make you happy... In the world that we live in today... We've to find happiness in small things or we'll be sad forever...

Puri Sahib, Trying to be happy (-:

From Romeo to Responsible

Life of Romeo was a dream life… definition of life was:-

L – Late nights out
I – Insanity
F – Friends
E – Entertainment

No responsibility in life… Wake up after sane people are back home from work, have breakfast, take shower, get dressed, leave home. Friends, Parties and Movies… etc etc etc… Back to bed after waking up the rooster. Next day repeat the same routine of yesterday… Favorite hobby was making friends & buying new cars…

But then life changed… Ah! The dream came to an end… Over the years there came a change…

Today everyone calls him Responsible… definition of life is:-

L – Loan
I – Insurance
F – Finance
E – Economy

Now every morning when he wakes up, the rooster is still asleep… When he opens his cupboard to select the attire for the day, he looks at all the Jeans, Cargo Pants & T-Shirts with a look which a kid gives to candies he’s not allowed to eat yet he’s standing in a Candy shop… He only gets to wear those on Sundays… Favorite hobby is making money & buying new stocks…

BUT

he’s Still Happy

Happy Romeo

Oh I mean…

Happy Puri Sahib (-:
