Ranikot – Largest Fort in the World.

My friend is here from Dubai,a member of PW.So only a few things to do,eat, tea and go on a trip.Plan was made in a hurry. We were sitting and chatting (tea is there yes) when HB said why dont we go to Ranikot,so Racer f2 (nick on PW) delays his flight from Monday to Wed and plan is made for us to leave Karachi at 3 am on Sunday.

A bit about Ranikot

Ranikot Fort. Located about 30 km southwest of Sann, in the Kirthar Range, approximately 120 kms from Hyderabad Toll Plaza and 262 kms form Karachi. It is one of the largest forts in the world.

It has an approximate diameter of 9 km. Its walls are on the average 6 meters high and are made of gypsum and lime cut sandstone and total circumference is about 29 km. While originally constructed for bow and arrow warfare it was later expanded to withstand firearms.

It is reputed to be the largest unexplored fort in the world. The purpose of its construction and the reason for the choice of its location are still unknown.
Our travell

3am – Left Karachi
5am – Breakfast near Toll Plaza, Hyderabad.
6am – Left Hyderabad Toll Plaza.
8.30am – Reached Ranikot
10.45am – Left Ranikot
2pm – Arrived Karachi.

Total Kms traveled 495.

Its a great place and hard to explain what it felt like, its just so big the whole place so beautiful.Loved every min of it,though the 2 hour walk was a pain and legs are still stiff.

If you get a chance do visit this place. And i had no idea as the others didnt either that the largest fort is in Pakistan.

I like the mystery about the whole place that no one knows for sure who built it and when it was built and so on,but would like to know.

To read more about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranikot_Fort

Well another trip for the diary, and one to Gawadar is in the making, along with the all Pakistan trip to which i prob will not be able to go (dam work)

Tired,stiff Puri Sahib
